Ear Stretching? How long to wait.?
I got my ears pierced at 10g with intentions on stretching to 0g or 00g as soon as I can without ripping it. I have a kit of tapers (10g, 8g, 6g, 4g, 2g, 0g) how long should i wait between each stretch? I also have surgical grade stainless steel plugs for my next size, I was wondering if I could use stone, or horn after a stretch? I am assuming single flare is my only option until each stretch is healed, but how bad would a double flare be after a stretch?
Wait until the the new stretched piercing is completely healed before stretching again. Not only is it a good precaution against infection, it will also be less likely to rip when you stretch up. Along with that, a lot of the time when stretching you will rip either way, even if you do the proper progression.
I'd leave the surgical stainless steel in until your completely healed, or at least until its less raw. Stone and horn are organic materials and so they can harbor more bacteria than surgical stainless steel, so until you're healed, it doesn't seem worth the risk.
A double flare would probably be pretty difficult right after a stretch due to swelling and I would advise against changing the jewelery until you're healed anyway.
