Taper Spiral Claw
What should I stretch my ear with? - stainless steel makes me itch and I don't use animal materials?
I have been stretching for a few years with acrylic spiral or clawed tapers and so far its been problem free. I keep reading that you shouldn't stretch with acrylic because its porous and more likely to cause infection. I am now 10mm British or 00 in American sizing and would like to be double that. I have heard that stretching to bigger sizes are more prone to infection and would like to minimize this risk. The only criticism I have found with my method is the material I use. What would be safe to use for someone who can't use stainless steel and wont use animal derived materials?

You can use titanium. But that gets expensive very quickly.
Glass tapers are hard to find...
Theres nothing wrong with using acrylic tapers as they are not to be worn as jewellery, though its really best to stay away from acrylic plugs. Follow the taper straight through with a SF glass plug.
But curved tapers (like claws and spirals) aren't a great idea. They stretch unevenly, and can cause uneven thinning. And if you wear them as jewellery, they're often unevenly weighted, and very easy to bash.
Tape 
PTFE or bondage tape are both vegan happy. As is jojoba oil.
Silicone and organics (wood, stone etc) are definately not for fresh stretches they're very porous (more than porous acrylic), and can pretty easily fuse to skin
