what do i wear to a horse show in UK?

i lived in USA for 2 years where i did quite a bit of showing, however, I have never shown in the UK before so I need some advice on apparel..

In USA they wear...
navy blue/black jacket (i have navy blue)
any colour shirt with stock collar (i have white with tiny pale blue stripes)
gold stock pin in the shape of a horse's bit
tan jodphurs
black leather tall boots
black velvet hat
hair net

Is this any different from UK shows? A lady on my yard told me that you have to wear a navy blue hat, tweed jacket, yellow jods, shirt and tie, and brown leather jodphur boots but then i heard that it doesnt HAVE to be all this....

Yes it is very different in the UK.

What you wear depends on what type of horse you are riding however for the vast majority of HORSE classes you will have to wear the following:

Navy hat with flesh coloured straps or navy beagler.
Hair in a bun with a net (never wear a scrunchie on a horse, they are for pony classes)
Shirt with tie, (tie should never be black or white)
Tie pin.
Tweed jacket (green or brown based is best)
Canary jods, you can wear beige.
Black leather tall boots (only ever wear short boots on a pony)
Spurs or dummy spurs.
Brown leather gloves

The only difference is if you are lucky enough to find a show hack in which case you would wear a navy jacket, however true show hacks are very rare finds! You should NEVER wear a navy jacket on anything other then a show hack or riding pony.
